Google Antigravity explained: what it is and how to use it

What Google Antigravity is, how its app, CLI, editor extensions and SDK differ, what each Google plan allows, and how to run it on a 5abeer plan.

Updated November 1, 2026Markdown version

Google Antigravity is Google's agentic development platform. You describe a task, and an AI agent plans it, writes the code, runs it and shows you the result. It comes as a desktop app, a terminal CLI, editor extensions and a Python SDK. Google offers it at no charge, and its paid Google AI plans raise the usage limits.

What is Google Antigravity?#

The agent is the center of the product, not a chat box beside your editor. You hand it a task, and it splits the work into steps, edits files, runs terminal commands and can check the result in a browser it controls.

Four ideas run through Google's documentation:

  • Artifacts. The agent shows its work as plans, walkthroughs, file diffs, screenshots and browser recordings, so you review a change before you accept it.
  • Background agents. Long tasks can go to subagents that work in separate Git worktrees.
  • Skills, rules and MCP. Skill files (SKILL.md) and rules teach the agent your project's habits, and MCP servers connect it to outside tools.
  • Permissions. You decide which tools need your approval and which folders the agent can reach.

App, CLI, extensions or SDK: what's the difference?#

Antigravity comes in four forms that share one agent. The app, the CLI and the editor extensions use one Google sign-in.

FormWhat it isSuits
Antigravity AppA desktop appRunning several agents and projects from one window
Antigravity CLIA terminal client called agyWork over SSH and in scripts
IDE extensionsAgent panels for VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Zed, Xcode and EclipseStaying in the editor you already use
Antigravity SDKA Python libraryBuilding your own tools on the same agent

How do you install and start Antigravity?#

  1. Download the installer from antigravity.google. Google lists macOS 12 or later, Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11, and recent Linux versions such as Ubuntu 20 or later.
  2. Install it. On a Mac, drag Antigravity into Applications. On Windows, run the installer.
  3. Open Antigravity and press Sign in. Your browser opens for your Google account, then returns you to the app.
  4. Add your project folder, pick a model and a thinking level, and describe the task.

For the CLI alone, Google publishes this command for macOS and Linux, with a PowerShell version for Windows:

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://antigravity.google/cli/install.sh | bash
agy --version

A personal Google account works on every level, including the no-cost one. Work and school accounts need their administrator to turn Antigravity on first.

How much does Google Antigravity cost?#

Google's pricing page lists an Individual level at no charge. Its plans page describes the usage on each level:

Your Google planUsage in Antigravity, as Google describes it
No Google AI Pro or Ultra planA quota that refreshes weekly, under a weekly rate limit
Google AI ProA higher quota that refreshes every five hours until the weekly limit is reached
Google AI UltraThe highest quota, refreshed every five hours, with the highest weekly limits

Every level gets Gemini as the main agent model, Tab completions and all product features, such as scheduled tasks and the CLI. The newest Gemini and Claude models in the picker need a paid Google AI Pro plan or Google AI Ultra, and Google's models page shows which plan unlocks each one.

  • Limits follow work, not messages. Simple tasks leave room for more prompts, and complex tasks use more of the quota.
  • AI credits after the quota. On Google AI Pro and Ultra, purchased AI credits can cover usage past a model's quota, if the AI Credit Overages setting allows it.

You subscribe to Google AI Pro or Ultra on Google One. Teams get Antigravity through Gemini Enterprise on Google Cloud.

Can you use your own API key in Antigravity?#

Not to raise your plan's limits. Google's plans page says Antigravity doesn't currently support bringing your own key or endpoint for extra rate limits.

The CLI is the exception. Google's sign-in guide shows how to run the Antigravity CLI on a Gemini API key instead of a signed-in account, for headless and CI runs. Model requests then go straight to the Gemini API, with no account session:

  • Set "modelProvider": "gemini" in ~/.gemini/antigravity-cli/settings.json.
  • Export the key as GEMINI_API_KEY. Google notes that the variable alone has no effect without the provider setting.
  • To send requests to another Gemini-compatible endpoint, set GOOGLE_GEMINI_BASE_URL.

The reverse isn't allowed. Google's FAQ says using your Antigravity sign-in in third-party tools such as Claude Code, OpenClaw or OpenCode breaks its terms of service and can get the account suspended or terminated. For those tools, Google recommends an API key from Gemini Enterprise or Google AI Studio.

A 5abeer key is compatible with the Gemini generateContent API for the models that support it. For a terminal agent with full 5abeer steps, see Gemini CLI. Per-token prices are on the Gemini API page, and How to get an API key explains how keys work.

Which models work in Antigravity?#

Antigravity runs models from Google DeepMind and partner providers. You pick a model and a thinking level: Low, Medium or High. Google counts usage in two groups, Gemini models on one side and Claude and GPT models on the other, each with a weekly and a five-hour limit.

On a 5abeer plan, Antigravity runs these models, read live from our catalog:

Frequently asked questions#

Is Google Antigravity free?#

Google offers an Individual level at no charge, with a quota that refreshes weekly. Google AI Pro and Ultra raise the limits, refresh the quota every five hours and unlock more models.

Is Antigravity the same as Gemini CLI?#

No. Antigravity is a separate product with its own CLI, called agy. Google publishes a guide for moving from Gemini CLI to Antigravity.

Can I use Claude models in Antigravity?#

Google's own picker includes Claude models, and the newest ones need a paid Google AI Pro plan or Google AI Ultra. On a 5abeer plan, Antigravity runs the Gemini models listed above, and Claude runs in Claude Code and Claude Desktop, which every Bundle plan includes.

Can I use my Antigravity sign-in in Claude Code or OpenCode?#

No. Google's FAQ says this breaks its terms of service, so use an API key there. Google adds that the CLI's headless mode, agy -p, is meant for direct scripting and CI, and that wrapping it inside other coding agents isn't supported on consumer plans.

Is Google Antigravity available in Egypt and the Gulf?#

Yes. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman are on Google's list of supported countries. You must be 18 or older, and your Google account's country must be on that list.

Is 5abeer part of Google?#

No. 5abeer is an independent service, not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Google Antigravity is the official app that Google publishes.
